i've seen both but was wondering if there was really a big difference between the two. this year seems to be a gear christmas, so i'm looking at one of them to add to the board.
thanks guys.

I think they are similar in circuit, but the Maxon AD9 is true bypass!

Maxon no longer makes Ibanez's pedals. They are identical looking though very different internally.
Apparently the Maxon is better.
Here's a review comparing them. I hope I can put this link here-

It seems that Ibanez skimped on their reissue while Maxon improved theirs.
I have an original AD-9 that I bought new in 1982 and I would never part with it. It was my first pedal and still sounds great.
My original is not true bypass, but I've found that, with half decent cables, and as long and most of the pedals in the chain are true bypass I don't have a problem.
IIRC....
The Maxon uses NOS bucket-brigade chips and has higher fidelity.
The Ibanez uses new chips from China, and is lower fi.
I've got the Ibanez, and I like it a lot. It's more like rhythmic acompaniment than echoes, but in a good way. Not true bypass. I've got mine in a loooper.
