    Re: Which tele for me?

    Nice one, JAM!

I'm particularly fond of the description for the ST68-85TX VWH:

"In the rapid surfacing from the out of the sphere and the dance and going out to 1st place, the Raje head and the pasting Maple fingerplate are these Storat of the feature."

I just want to get my wallet out right here and now and give them money.

PS: I'm sure I saw a Tele described as having a "bigball tailpipe"

Alright, got better results using my Mac...thank God for Apple!

Here's another stupid question for anyone that is far smarter than I.

So I like the looks of the blond TL52-70US. I understand what the "TL52" means and even the "70", but what does the "US" mean? I'm guess "TX" mean "texas special pups," thus it is more expensive, but what does "US" mean?

Now that's funny Tenbrae! Everyone needs a tele with "bigball tailpipe." I'm sure it effects your resale price...in a good way.

The US ones have US pickups. I think the same as the ones in the 52RI Tele, but don't quote me on that...

Thanks Power. I've catching on slowly. I figured I want an OWB (blonde) finish. Now it's down to the pups. Pay more for TS or get a cheaper one and upgrade later.

I really want to put a P90 at the neck position.

The color you seek is Vintage White (blonde). Olympic white is very white.

Do you now? Then your question is almost answered. Calculate the difference between the instrument with US p/ups and the instrument with the Texas Specials. What do you find? It might be that the instrument with the US p/ups is the best bet, given that the difference in price might get you well on the way to some sweet aftermarket items (you want a P-90, a mini-humbucker, a firebird p/up? Well, you go get 'em!). However, if the difference is sort of inconsequential in the greater scheme of things, buy the instrument with the US p/ups and play it...you actually might really dig the instrument as is. If they're the "original vintage" style p/ups as found on the US reissues then a lot of people really like them. Mind you a lot of people really like the Texas Specials, too.

I hope these are the p/ups we're talking about. Hopefully, if not, someone will come along and correct me.

PS: heh heh, I said "really dig", LOL, what a hippy!

    Re: Which tele for me?

You nailed it NF! That's what I'm looking for. What’s the exact model?

My only major concern is the neck. Are the '52 and '62 the same profile? Crap, ’62 only comes with rosewood fret board. I prefer maple on ash body…looks like I’m going ’52.

Tene, once again you make a good point. I think I would really like the TS pups. I have a friend with a tele that has them in it. I've borrowed it on occasion and like the pups. Probably would keep it stock for some time and then mess with the pup configuration.

I thought that the "bigball tailpipe" was too good an idea to go unnoticed. Stagg have picked up the idea and run with it:

    BIGBALL TAILPIPE:

    Cheers All

PS: I've given the link simply because displaying the Bigball Tailpipe as an image is way too much. It's a big image, for a big guitar! :)

I like them. In fact, I liked them so much I went out and bought a set for my chambered Tele-Clone.

I don't know. Aside from adding a 3 saddle bridge, I've never felt compelled to disassemble it. It's "Made in Japan S/N: U009193.
The neck has a medium soft-V profile. I should check the fretboard radius, but all I know it's about the only vintage style Tele I've played that didn't fret out somewhat on higher fret bends. Maybe 9.5"?
People say swap out the pots. I bought some, but never put them in.
Even with whatever corners are cut on some of the components, these guitars just work.

I remember that project telecast. That tele looks worlds better than when it was orange. Nice work and great choice of a classic color. I love blond tele's.

Wish I had the skills to refinish like that.

    Re: Which tele for me?

NF, I'm not sure I would like the V profile. My strat is the modern C-shape and I think I would prefer that. I'm going to go out and play a few different ones today to see what I can get along with.

I hope to make my first tele purchase post Christmas. I can't freakin' wait!
