That might be one of the best opening posts ever.
phtot- considering the mood you were in last week, maybe you should tinker with something less finicky.
Like a Floyd Rose...

what? seriously, what's the problem or question? i really like wraparounds meeself.
"don't worry, i'm a professional!"
You know Mark, I was just kicking the tires on a "Maestro by Gibson" Junior over at Toys-R-Us last week while shopping for my 5 year-old's birthday. I tried hard to imagine modding the thing... but that wrap tail and especially the studs struck me as just about insurmountable. REALLY tall studs to keep the tail way off the deck and to clear the pup surrounds, right? A nut really high, but you couldn't file deeper without the strings hitting the pups?
Similar problem with the SG Junior value pack, perhaps?

Weird-ass place for a switch if you ask me, too!
All I can say is they are a BLASTED PAIN to try an intonate.

I thought you let the bridge fall off the studs during a string change and dinged the guitar!
I love wraparound bridges. That and P-90s are why I have my Les Paul Jr and bought one of those new-fangled PRS Soapbars.

that is a cool bridge. That would solve it.. $100.00 bridge on an $89.00 guitar...
if they had just put the posts 1/4 to 1/2 and inch further back, it could have worked as it is...

if push comes to shove, drill a hole in the back of the bridge where the posts go into the bridge, and then tap them for a screw. that way you can pull them back a little. stewmac has a couple that are around 40 bucks too. i was just looking at them in the catalog while i was out in the shop.
"don't worry, i'm a professional!"
it already has screws in the back, but I have it pulled back so far that it's almost off the posts.

My Gibson Les Paul Jr's bridge is like that. It came with offset posts (the treble post is closer to the pickup) and a compensated wrap bridge.Originally Posted by photoweborama
On the bass side it's fine, but on the trebble side the bridge has to be nearly off the post to intonate correctly. I use a longer set screw on that side and have shimmed the bridge so that it fits snug.
It works fine and sounds great, but looks kinda hack compared to the setup on my new Korean made PRS SE Soapbar!
I almost didn't go for the PRS Soapbar because of the wrap bridge (I've had plenty of trouble with them back in the day), but this thing is remarkably in tune. It really is the hot setup.
Of course, I don't think Phtot Mark wants to hear that right now.
I like the guitar, my kid does too. but I can't even sell it this way. I insist that guitars I sell be in perfect working order.
When the bridge is pulled back this far, if you put the wrong kind of pressure on it, the bride will shift and everything will go out of whack...
If I had a way to drill new posts, I'd get at cheap import TOM off ebay and put a stop bar on it..
Nah.. too much work....
The wrap arounds that have adjustable saddles actually work pretty well.. this one... well...

Check out StewMac, phtot.
The one fezz showed is about $62.
A "compensated" wrapover with length adjusting set screws as chuck described are about $18.
("Compensated," meaning, in this case, that there's a ridge on the piece in about the spot where you'd want the imaginary saddle to be adjusted to.)
It shouldn't be too awful. :yay

Does that guitar have a bolt on neck?
Would it help if you tilted it back a tiny bit, or, and this is gonna sound goofy, shimmed it on the butt end pushing the neck farther away from the body a smidgen?
Hmmm...I have an idea for you...
I have to look in my parts drawer at home.
BTW, what's the center to center post spacing of the studs on your guitar?
Thanks so much Don, my wife is sending the Paypal for shipping tonight.
That bridge is going to be great. If anything, it will be a conversation starter!

So, when do we get to see the fix?
The big shiny bridge is on it's way!
A different string guage might intonate better too....
You will all see the stunning phtots as soon as I can!!

Oh, yeah... I remember those... I knew a guy had one on a LP Jr. Snazzy. Is that what's coming?
This is what Don is sending me...
Shaller bridge
It should be really cool!

This thing sounds pretty hot as it is. I'm actually thinking of entering that GC contest and playing it. Either that, or my son's mini Squier strat.
An old guy like me doesn't have a [blank] chance in [blank] to win it, so I might as well have some fun with it.

Thanks to Don again for this great bridge!
I had to do a few things to make it work. The Epi posts were too thick to fit it, so I had to pull out the post anchors. But the Shaller anchors were too small.
I figured if Fezz can use a guitar pick for a neck shim, why not post anchors. So I stuffed two .060mm guitar picks in the holes, tapped the new anchors in, and set it all up.
So far it works great, but I'm sure the posts anchors are going to still be settling for some time.

That doesn't look bad on there at all!
In fact, it looks kinda cool.
I think it matches the guitar real well... it looks rockin' cool!
Cool.:yay
Does that have a set neck or bolt-on?

I think you're imagining a different kind of "-around," there, OA.....
I think it looks kind of bolt-on-ish in the pic.
I'm going to pull it one more time. It settled and the one of the anchors is not straight, so one more piece of guitar pick in the other side should do it.
But in general, it's fantastic!

phtot- When you say anchors, do you mean the threaded inserts that are in the body that the 2 studs screw into?
Are you making up the diff in hole diameter w/guitar picks?

Yep! and Proud of it!!!Originally Posted by NeoFauve

It is actually fine the way it is, but I'm a perfectionist.. no, an idiot about those kinds of things...
