    Playing bass for guitar inspiration

So...I bought a new Epiphone Thunderbird bass about 3 weeks
ago. I've most of my recent playing time on the bass as
opposed to my Gibson Firebird V. When I picked up and played my
6 string again..."Holy new melody inspirations Batman!"

And not just that, having spent a lot of time on the bass playing
    chords...which means s t r e t c h i n g without really realizing it,
you really build some new strength in the fret hand.

These revelations of mine aren't new, but...whatever works, right ?
    Anyone else ?

i play both so as to diversify my playing and musicality. sounds like you're doing the same thing. what's funny is that it amazes people that only know i play one or the other when i switch.

in the end it's all music, so playing either guitar or bass is fulfilling to me. i just have to remember my roles when playing either.

what color thunderbird did you get?

Yeah chuck.....I'm hip about diversifying...was getting a little stale
lately and always wanted to try bass(my own at home).

My Tbird is stained ebony...quite a bit darker than my Gibson's tobacco sunburst, but there is still some nice woodgrain visible.
I had to check a few as there was some real shitty fret/neck issues on some. The one I took home is excellent in every way. My buddy is a long time gigging pro bass player and said he'd take it if I didn't.

I'm gonna get flatwounds and a bone nut soon. It sounds really good....even thru my Vibrochamp with a bit of tremelo on
and a splash from my RV5 reverb pedal...low volume of course :ahem
    Awesome thru my 100wJCM800 Superbass

Every now & again when I would futz around on a bass, I would wind up with a killer riff or chord progression that would later be turned into a song. For some reason, I have had better luck in my songwriting doing it on a bass instead of a guitar.

Maybe this is completely unrelated, but I look at myself as a "bass player who plays guitar." When I come up with lines, or riffs on guitar, they always sound like a bass player playing guitar.
