RS transformation of my 56/62 STRAT!!!!

You may recall I picked up an original 56 strat neck attached to an original 62 body...not much else original including poor refinish in sunburst. Please see for yourself the genius of Roy and Scott...

Introducing ....RS transmutation into MARY KAYE.....

Ooooh! That's nice stuff. Now, tell exactly what they did. A re-finish with some relicing and...

Re: RS transformation of my 56/62 STRAT!!!!

The guitar has an ash body so I thought it might make a good candidate for redo into MaryKaye. None of the electronics appeared to be original so I engaged the services of Jim Rolph to make me a set of pups conforming to 56 specs. He added aging and bakelite as well!!!!

Roy was given artistic license to do whatever to make the guitar into Mary Kaye which as you can see he did splendidly. The gold parts are new and aged. The grain peeks through the blonde finish nicely and the color is right on. He then aged and reliced the finish. The original neck was pretty nice so he seems to have retained the original vibe as much as possible but it looks like he enhanced the finish at some spots to produce more authentic look.

Hope that helps. Be glad to add anything additional if you need.

    Frank

24loar, did you have also have RS install their "Strat Kit" with the 250K Pots, Hovland Cap, etc...their True Tone Kit or whatever they call it.

If so, what are your comments so far on that mod. By the way, that's a fantastic looking guitar and I can only imagine how sweet it must play.

Well, if you didn't request it, it's possible that it wasn't part of the process. Also, you might not have been aware that it was an option.

Reason is that I ordered the Strat Kit in question but haven't received the guitar back from my tech. I'm sure the install is simple enough but I choose to leave that to more experienced hands. Anyway, sweet looking Strat of yours and I may consider a relicing on one of my Strats one day.

I actually did not know of RS Strat electronics kit which I would have requested. I use RS upgrades in my Les Pauls and I believe they make a positive difference.....

If you consider relic work...consider RS...they're extremely talented and the nicest folks....
