Hi friends. I just found a CS body and I'm trying to date it.
1. It looks like a 1960 body--it is Olympic white and is probably alder. It looks like a Cunetto-era body without the relicing.
2. It has the name "D. Carrillo" stamped under the nitro in the vibrato cavity and inside the neck joint/cavity.
3. It has the typical "winged" Custom Shop logo ink stamped on the neck/joint.
4. It has 1957 4 stamped at the top of the neck joint/cavity.
5. The number 916, with a line underneath it, is written in black marker on the neck joint. This is in big letters, and the marker is under the nitro & lacquer at the edges of the underline.
7. All the routing has the black shielding painted on like most CS models.
6. In the neck pickup cavity, stamped into the wood under the black paint/shielding, is 398 B (it also could be 396 B).
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me on dating this.
