    Re: Now this is different!

I reckon it'd be nicer if they had one with a white pickguard, lake placid blue, Tele bridge and bridge pickup then the standard Strat pickups in their respective positions. Maybe a Bigsby vibrato system to add to the retro look. Oh, and the middle pickup would just about touch the edge of the pickguard (and that edge would be straight). Maybe have the middle pickup rout cut in the back of the guitar, so there's no holes in the front, since there'll be no additional back routing for the Strat style vib.

Before you put it on the MF card......

Mention that zzsounds.com has it for $149.00 for a match... WITH SHIPPING INCLUDED ! ! !

GP mag did an article on these a couple of months ago - got best pick awards......

I played one recently - they sound and feel really good. No toen knob, rotary switch and coil tap for HB in the bridge.

    VEY NICE feel......

Don't forget the vintage creme w/black pick guard too.......

    Re: Now this is different!

Zzsounds... I may be able to swing it at that price... I have a Squeir Bullet and an Affintiy I just did a total upgrade on with pearloid pickguard, Fender US pickups, CTS pots, Full switch, shielding and a push pull pot for 7 way switching..

I'd sell both of them to get this....

The necks on those are nice. Semi-chunky feel and I think a 9.5 radius.
I was thrilled with p'up arrangement.
A Tele bridge p'up would be the ticket.

I would figure out a way to put a toploader tele bridgeplate on that sucker along with a tone knob and mini 3 way toggle. That would be cool.:yay

    Vintage blonde here I come!

Well I got my MF account back.... the credit limit went from $700.00 to $2700.00. I'm still not sure... It looks cool, but I'm just not sure.

I still have to pay for the Les Paul... if my son gets straight A's on his next report card.... I have to buy him one...

Before I got laid-off (on Oct. 22 ), I was ready to go buy one of these things. Went down to GC, but they hadn't gotten any in yet. And now I'm all jobless and such, so...I guess I'll have to wait for a bit.

    Sucks.

    A lot.

    Re: Now this is different!

I seriously considered building a guitar like this one with an ash USA Custom Guitars body last year.

I was going to use a Tele bridge and pickups with a Strat middle pickup.

I built it with an ash Tele type body instead.

I can't decide on the vintage blonde or the vintage sunburst... If my son get his A's, I'm going to order the Epi Les Paul and this guitar at the same time...

You know...when I first saw these, they reminded me of something, but I couldn't put my finger on it. But today it hit me.

These things look like Robin Rangers. I remember seeing them during the 80's, and the headstocks were the reversed Jackson-style, but apparently, Robin is still around, and here's a pic of a current Ranger:

    Looks familiar, huh?

Or the Kramer Elliot Easton Model. The EE actually has a Tele style bridgeplate.

    Just picked one up ...

    ... from guitartrader for $149 ...

I'm pretty darned impressed with the overall quality. The basswood grain is quite nice and it was hard to see the joints of the 3-pc body. Overall weight is an impressive 6lbs 11 ozs!

AND major happy that the nut width is 1.653" wide, so the neck will stay for sure. The frets measure an average of .093" wide and .047" tall. The back shape is a nice 'n' comfy "C", .838" thick @ the 1st fret and .869" thick at the 12th fret. Really nice wood grain, too.

Anyhoo, as expected I took it all apart and was again impressed with the quality of the routs ...

... ditto for the wiring neatness and control layouts ...

    ... overall - a keeper ...

... all body routs are getting a conductive painting, too much gear lash in JinHo tuners so they're being replaced with Gotoh SG38's, the PVC nut gets replace with vintage bone, both ceramic pups are pulled and will be replaced with Strat AlNiCo's (still deciding what pups), a pair of CTS 250K pots (vol and tone), a Switchcraft jack, and an on-on-on mini DPDT nestled between the pots to select the pups. Oh yeah, the top load bridge is staying - at least for now. (Time passes) ... all done, now - it's become this ...

... plays great, sounds fine - more tweaks in the works ...

    Re: Now this is different!

Nice.I still hope I can get one, but I went pretty deep into debt buying that Les Paul for my son. Now we are selling all extra gear and other stuff trying to stockpile money for my impending layoff. I may even let my beloved OLP go since I can play my son's Lester when I need a humbucker.
