How are the AmSe Teles Routed?

I have a chance to trade some equipment I don't use that much for a like new AmSe tele. I was thinking that if I get it, I might get a new guard and drop a Seymour Duncan full size Humbucker that I have lying around in the neck position. Are the new American Series Tele's routed for this already? What value pots do they use when they do this on the USA Fat Tele? I think I'll go to Fender and see if I can find the info, but if anyone already has one and knows offhand, that would be great

    ShawnRT,

Yes--the AmSe Tele's are routed for both a neck humbucker and a middle single coil.

I discovered this to my surprise and admiration while swapping the stock pups on my Natural Ash AmSe for Kinman AVN-60s.

Cool! Thanks Jack! I think I'll pull the trigger on this one. I've always wanted a "Fat" tele.

AmSe? American Standard? Mine only has the rout for the neck singlecoil.

    Stroker,
Are you saying that you have an AmSe or American Standard with only the single coil route?

Yes, well it has the bridge pup to of course. No humbucker or middle pickup rout on it.

No, I was asking if your guitar with the single coil neck pickup route is an AmSe or AmStandard?

Nope, they instituted several changes in the switch, ie rolled neck edges, no more swimming pool routes on the strats, non lam bodies etc. I don't have that much experience with teles though so I wasnt sure. I'll let you know when I pick up this new tele, which is definitely an AmSe.

    Se or Sd?

AmSe is American Series - definitely has hummer rout in neck and middle pup rout

AmSd is American Standard - the predecessor line to the AmSe. They were a bit less expensive --no hand-rolled fingerboard edges, non-staggered tuners, no delta-tone, etc. Most production models of AmSd DID NOT have routs for neck hummer or mid SC. I think some of the earliest in the '80's might have had the swimming pool route, but most were only routed for the pups they came with.

    Hope that helps.

    Jack
