its different than reg. tele for sure, but with push/pull coil tap switch, u can turn either or both into single coils. which is nice. overall i think it's a great guitar for the $. but its no les paul, and really not a tele either.

Does the FMT have a 24.75" scale or a 25.5" or something else? I'm pretty sure the '72 Thinline RI has a 25.5" scale, which lends to the Fendery-ness of the tone (pickups notwithstanding).
I have hum-cancelling pickups in my Tele, but I don't think that's what you guys are talking about.
