Whats weird is there are 2 different versions of these.

The Original ones from 1985-86 and the newest ones from 1999 till present all have serial numbers on the bridgeplate that start with A.

Take out the control panel and get the numbers off the pots or maybe a neck date from inside the neck pocket.

What color and model is it?

Well, I know that it is definitely not a 1999 model telecaster. It is a tobacco burst and says Japan on the back of the heal of the neck. Looks like a Seymore Duncan in the bridge and a chrome/lipstick? in the neck. Not sure if that it correct about the neck P/U but it plays like a dream and is in near mint condition although the neck seems to be very old or at least aged quite a bit from the color of the wood. Says Fender on the headstock and "telecaster" as well. The binding on the body has aged real nicely but the finish overall is awesome. I have no idea what it is worth. Werent the Japan models in the 80s suppose to be good guitars?

If its Tobacco Burst double bound with a rosewood fretboard then its a 85-86 62ri.

    Price range is $350-550

It should say made in japan at the base of the neck.

It does say made in Japan at the base of the neck Marcondo. Sounds great and very difficult for me to tell the difference in tone/playability next to the real deal. So you think $350-$550?

Yes thats the price range on these. It should have a satin finished amber neck with a sorta big feel around the 1-5 fret area.

Most people when they bought these originally swaped out the electroincs and pickups cause the stock ones sound very weak and thin.

Enjoy it those are very nice Teles.

No satin finish neck. Gloss finish on the neck and the board is rosewood. Thanks for the info. I appreciate it.
