    Finish wearing

I was just wondering how long it takes for satin finish to wear and leave those relic-esque wear marks on a maple neck, on average?

I'm looking at Warmoth for parts, and they offer gloss or satin finishes for necks. Me being the impatient sod I am, one of the deciding factors is this age question ;).

    Thanks for any help :)
i bet this really annoy's you if your a grammar freak.

I becoming convinced wearing the finish down on the neck has more to do with the acidity in your fingers than it does to playing time but is probably a combination of both.

I've had my '87 Strat which has a satin neck finish and have the hell out of it and the only wear the neck is showing are the frets. I thought for sure it would have that cool relic look by now but only the plastic pup cover and toggle tip have yellowed with age.

These finishes are built "Ford Tough" err, I mean "Fender Tough" ;)

Thanks, man...now you mention it, I bet you're right about the acidity in someone's sweat being more of a factor than playing time. I'll just have to learn how to sweat vinegar
