Congrats to all who still gig - my brief and only brush with that good fortune was circa '75 (but it was all good while it lasted - a stock '64 Stratocaster [I was the second owner; bought it from the first] straight into a blackface pre CBS Twin Reverb) - and this is the only pic I still have.

cool!!
sure feels nice to drag stuff out, set it all up, and jam in front of a crowd of people who are digging it :headbange even though it's often such a beotch to get everyone together to rehearse!! :arhhh:
Kool pics! I know someone was taking pics at our gig the other week, I'll try get one. Here's an oldie I posted a while ago...early 70's. My beloved Mustang going into a BF Bandmaster, paid a 100 bucks for each. Hey refin, my bro just picked up a SS Standel bass amp...looks like a mini-fridge.

Does this light make me look fat?
I'm still puzzled that folks put drinks on top of amplifiers.........
I did that..........................once :)
I'll dig up some old ones later...
Here's me in my first "real" band (i.e., not backing up an ultra-sexy female country singer, but actually rocking out as "front man"), circa 1973.
http://www.gravitymusic.com/studiopics/Pandora.jpg
From left to right: Gary Lavengood (bass, vocal), me (guitar, vocal), Mike Kruse (drums), Neil Andrews (keys, vocal). "Together, we are..... PANDORA!"
This is the photo from my mouse pad discussed in a previous thread about stupid clothes. Dig mine. Eeee-yep. Stupid. Real stupid. It appears that Gary is singing and I am playing up high, but without my slide.. Neil and Mike seem to be concentrating pretty hard, so I'm going to say that we're playing "I Got A Line On You." If I was wearing a slide, it would probably be "Must Be Love."
That's my hideously re-fined Les Paul, and my deafening VT-22 on the floor behind. Never fear, I can hear it just fine despite the odd placement. So can people out in the parking lot.
Here's a recently taken dartboard for y'all:

May this year, the early-'70s rock band I was in, re-united and playing at my son's wedding. The other three did a 500 mile round trip to attend:

The singer is playing a '79 Strat; my backup, behind me, is an all-original '76 LP Deluxe lefty.
I'll be back in Liverpool on 17th November for a book launch being held at The Cavern (the book is about 1970s bands in Liverpool). We are opening the night, with a further 9 bands to follow. I'll post pics of the event when I get back.
Just another gig in Rochester.

Man,I had to search the archives to find this thread, but I dug up another old pic...too funny.
Yeh,the shirts are ruffled....yeh,my SG has a Bigsby style...uh-huh,that's a Sunn Concert Bass amp (I'm playing through the matching Sunn Concert Lead---6-10")---yep,that's a '50s P-Bass.....yeh,I'm playing maracas and our singer is playing a tambourine.....keyboard player not shown....
This is at Tyndall AFB,Panama City FL at the Officer's Club...1973.
I figured there are some newbies here since this thread started, and may have some pics to share...so,bump,bump,bump!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...in/Picture.jpg
Same band, different members (same year,I think)...Mustin Bch. Navy Station,Pensacola FL.I had a Univox LP copy and a great Ampeg G-40 (why did I sell that one?!?)...dig that hair!
I had just gotten the Rick bass that day.Glenn and I would switch off betweeen guitar and bass, and he was a smoking player. How do you like our light show?
The shirts only got worse.....I can't remember what guitar is on the stand next to me ,probably Glenn's Epi Melody Maker with a Gibson bucker.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...gon1973001.jpg
Your singer looked pretty sexy :ola
Was the guitar on the stand not your SG from the 1st pic? Looks like it could be an SG...
I would post some pics of myself 'in live mode', but I don't have any! I know there are quite a few in existence somwhere, but the people who took them have since long gone, and taken the pics with them...
No, but the look on your face clearly indicates: Buttplug inserted.:hi:
Here from my most recent gig.

Here in Boston we're kind of partial to "Sweet Caroline". For some inexplicable reason, it gets cranked between innings late in every game at Fenway and the sell out crowd joins in at full throttle. So good. :wah:
The band I'm in does that song. When the lead singer brought it in I was sure he'd started hitting the pipe, but he insisted that we try it live one time before trashing it.
That was a year ago and we've done it (ugh) ever since. The connection to Fenway is the only modern link I've seen (and it's subsequent appearance in that Jimmy Fallon/Drew Barrymore Red Sox movie), but somehow, 20- and 30-somethings here in central Ohio all know it and go crazy for it, including all the "so good" retorts you allude to.
It's like "Mony Mony" for the G-rated crowd. God only knows why.
Old Thread,new pic!
