Specialist blue label identification

Hi everyone, this is my first post, and I'm hoping to get some help! I have an Eminence 12" blue label specialist I'm trying to find out as much I can about, being a dumb arrrs , I've almost completely peeled off the label trying to find Identifying codes or numbers, but finding none, and killing the label in the process, though you can still see parts of it. From what I could find out, it's possibly from an early 90s twin, and in my search, I have only seen one speaker where the label covers most of the magnet, where every other has a smaller label Appreciate any help, and thanks in advance and pics attached, Cheers🙏

Thanks @OldStrummer, here's links to the pics, the pic with the intact label is of the only example I could find that looked the same as mine, unfortunately the guy selling it has less of an idea than what I had... The light-colored cone assembly doesn't seem to be something one would see in a Fender "Evil Twin" or Pro Sonic. My best guess is it's one of the four drivers found in Fender's red-knob Dual Showman. From the size of the magnet assembly I'd say it's got a power-handling capability of approximately 75 watts RMS.

So not from the 90s? Forgive my ignorance, from which era was the dual red knob showman? I shall look about myself, but I'm not versed in Fender amps and speakers.... I've not played though it as of yet, are they a good speaker? Thanks@phantomman

Fender's red-knob era encompassed the late '80s to the early '90s. They were the first new tube designs produced after CBS's divestiture of the company. As for the speaker in question, only your ears will decide if the speaker is worthy of use.

Hi again Fender crew, I figured that I have the same question, so seemed logical to use the same thread. I'm considering this speaker for purchase, potentially to make 2x12 Fender diy cab, and I'm struggling to find out info seeing numerous blue label speakers tend to have id markings under the chassis gaskets. I've been a Marshall man, but started delving in the world of speakers and vintage amps, so I'm only just learning about Fender amps and speakers, so please forgive my ignorance. Well, you've got clickable links, but for some reason, your web host (imgbb) prevents a direct link to the images. Or it might be this forum's software. Either way, I tried to get them to render in this post, and they failed to do so. I've not seen that before. But your images can be viewed by clicking on the links.

Thanks @Old Strummer, unfortunately when you press the pics, it doesn't go to the link of the pic, but I think I know why now, I chose the wrong viewing format, but the previous links work. I needed to make them thumbnail pics here, and then they would go to the link, instead of having to enlarge the images in the thread. Maybe I should repost like that? No-one seems to be replying, and I'm wondering if that's why....?

It's a generic ceramic speaker that could've been made by any number of subcontractors (Eminence, Utah, Pyle, Cinaudigraph, etc) and designed to handle +/- 50 watts. The presence of a Fender decal on the magnet is no guarantee of sonic quality. Will it sound good? Probably. Will it sound great? Possibly. Will it sound like a Sara Lee pie tin? Could be. You pays your money and you takes your chances.

Thanks @Phantomman , so possibly not even vintage? My curiosity was piqued by the fact, that in my search, it's the only blue label specialist where the sticker mostly covers the whole magnet like the one I have, where as the rest have stickers only half the circumference of the magnet. Is the full sticker uncommon on the blue label specialist speakers? Cheers for your knowledge sharing:salud:

Looking very closely at the spider img, the speaker wire spade clips look almost brand new.... Didn't pick up on that before:hmm

I wouldn't regard that speaker as "vintage", certainly not as I interpret the term. Vintage to me is something made in the '70s or earlier, ie: a Chicago-made Jensen, an Oxford, a CTS, or a JBL. Those are the types I have in all of my amps (seventeen of them at last count). The driver in the photographs you provided looks nearly brand-new, likely installed in a sealed bass-reflex enclosure such as a Pro Sonic, Super Sonic, or a Showman 4x12. It might be twenty years old but not much older than that.

Appreciate your input @ Phantomman, I'd have thought even a 20yr old speaker would have tarnished connectors, even cleaned up, these are soooo shiny still, and the vague marks on then look like they've only been disconnected maybe once lol. I've heard people saying on other forums, early 90s amps and speakers being classified as vintage.... Such as my Marshall VS 100 combo from around 95/96, but me personally, I have a 78 JMP combo, and an Acetone SA-45 guts ace from 75/76(?) And I'm only 4 years older than my JMP, so I consider that vintage lol, then there's my pre Rola 66 G12M Greenback(unfortunately not working.... Yet!) , now that's vintage lol, and well I suppose my blue label specialist would be getting close too if it's from the 80s. I've actually been struggling to ascertain after much searching in the direction you pointed me to, being the red knob series, none seem to have the same chassis and magnets, and have the black cones. I'm going to try to get some better pics of it to post. Thanks again man, legend!:cool:

Hi there again, I'm going to sell the speaker, could you possibly tell me if it's an Eminence speaker? And also which era were cones coloured like this? Am I looking at something vintage? Thanks again for any info and knowledge:dude
