Proper switch for Fender Duo Sonic?
It's time for me to finally get my Musicmaster/Duo Sonic conversion up & running, & I need a switch for the pickups. Not the little sliders, but the toggle. Anybody know what kind it is & maybe where to find one? If I knew what kind it is I might even have one in my junk drawer. That would be cool.
thx

I had a Duo Sonic in the middle 70s and I think, with two pickups, the switch was a 3-position tele type but with the strat slim cone-shaped knob. And that's no help for mfger, etc. However, they sell 4 position tele switches to give you the choice of series / parallel, so it's possible you could get one in Duo Sonic format somewhere, for extra tone options.
Re: Proper switch for Fender Duo Sonic?
It's a 3 way on-on-on. It would have been made by switchcraft. I don't know the mounting hole specs, but I can tell you that if you want to use a "Gibson" style switch, you will need to route some wood and use the low boy like what is in the Explorers. The LP type is too deep and will not fit.
Re: Proper switch for Fender Duo Sonic?
I don't want to use a Gibson style switch. I have to believe that it's a common switch available through Mouser, I just don't know what I'm looking for
Re: Proper switch for Fender Duo Sonic?
Do you need to match pre-existing mounting holes?

If mounting holes are not an issue, here's the on-on-on selection from Mouser...http://www.mouser.com/Electromechani...z0z812Z1z0z357

One of those is the right one, dimensions & all. But which one? lol

Here's the original for reference: https://reverb-res.cloudinary.com/im...ckk50iabjv.jpg That's an ancient Carling switch.
Re: Proper switch for Fender Duo Sonic?
Wow, SIX lugs! I'd guess they only used one of each. Looks that way in the photo, anyhow
Re: Proper switch for Fender Duo Sonic?
Yes, but not the standard wiring. It's was either or both in series not parallel like we normally see...http://www.shortscale.org/wiki/index...:Duosonic1.jpg I enlarged the jpg to see it better. It's not a on-on-on switch. It's a on-off-on switch. My apologies, please. The switch shorts out either pickup in the rhythm or lead position. This is the closest I can find for size and function http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/...ObV%252bY2s%3d
