Re: Buzz in the New House
Do you have any dimmer switches?
Re: Buzz in the New House
+1 My thought too. If I plug in down in my basement/studio area, normal (very slight) single-coil hum. If I bring an amp upstairs in the living room/dining room area, horrible buzz because there are two dimmer switches in that circuit.
Re: Buzz in the New House
smart guys here ! Yes dimmers all over the place. I will investigate further and try more outlets. Breaker box is a mess too. Still living out of boxes and cleaning out old house so play time is limited. I will report back.
Re: Buzz in the New House
Test the outlets for correct wiring and grounds. You can get a tester at Radio Shack, Home Depot, Lowes, the hardware store... if you don't already have one.
Re: Buzz in the New House
Dimmers, bad grounding, reverse polarity, shared neutrals between circuits, etc. There's also overhead power lines to deal with, "dirty" or unstable power. There is just so much that can mess with you.

Geeze, there's no hope. Good thing I like my sumariam cobalts in my American Deluxe.
Re: Buzz in the New House
You can use a power conditioner to tame the ripple. Another thing to check is the actual voltage coming out of the wall, I've seen it as high as 135 volts some places.
