Hot Rod de Luxe- do preamp Tubes affect Reverb?
Hi there, actually I have wondered if and if so, which of the preamp tube have effect on the reverb sound- or is it totally independent? Thanks a lot from Germany

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Hot Rod Deluxe has a solid-state reverb. If that's the case, no tubes are involved.

This is correct. It's a spring pan, driven by a solid state circuit. So now tube involved in the reverb.

That SS reverb circuit gives it that shrill sound, which is why I hate those amps. They're pretty punchy, but you'll do better w/reverb pedal in front

Have you tried an older one with a US made tank? I haven't heard a new tank that I like and wondered if that's an even bigger factor than the SS circuit.

Nah, years ago I asked a trusted tech about improving the amp & he said that short of gutting & rewiring it there was nothing to do for it. I inquired specifically about the reverb. Turning into a tube driven circuit was cost prohibitive, & his opinion was that the SS circuit was the problem. This reverb tone is common with the Hot Rod series amps, Blues Jr's & DeVilles
