Beat up 51 ish P-bass I just bought.
Hey Guys, I'm new around here. I just bought a 51 P-Bass in Bakersfield with a great patina, the serial is 0300 but there is not a neck date. The bass is clearly original and I was the first one to pull the neck off which kinda violates my Cardinal rule with Fender stuff. Anyway I signed up because I dig early Fender stuff ... Thanks in advance for any info.

Hi Joe! I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing more about this bass and the rest of your Fender gear.

Go ahead Kenny.. Thanks. I'm not great at these Internet things.

How does the bass sound?
We're all so happy to have him that we forgot to ask.
Re: Beat up 51 ish P-bass I just bought.
I wouldn't worry about taking it apart, Leo meant for it to be that way.
But I do sympathize. Took me over 30-something years before I could do that, too. Now I'm a madman with a screwdriver, LOL.
Would love to see pics of it, also.

Very cool! Best advice I can give is to never force anything with old guitars. Lube the screws with some candle wax before reinstalling. It should keep the wood from stripping out.
