the thinline bigsby is together! ole goldie.
so here she is, it's been a lot of miles of hard road but she's just about done. i bought this body off of curtis stetka a long time ago, pup from frankthomson, used F bigsby. wired up like a sort of esquire; cocked wah, no tone, and then tone. gotta get strings on her tamale along with a nut.

That guitar apeals to my rockabilly side.
Is that a G&L pickup?

Wild.
Is that the body you routed out drastically, to make it a thinline, or something to that effect?

I meant "holy crap" in a good way, dude. You've done remarkable work with that thing.
Re: the thinline bigsby is together! ole goldie.
thanks guys! i'm a little peeved with the paint job, that's a whole other can of worms i'm not gonna open this week. let's just say i think this one will get a relic job here soon...
basically what i did was take a beat up usa fender curtis had and hogged out a lot of wood from the back side. i left from the neck pocket to the just past the bridge pup solid. i also left about a half inch of wood where the bigsby mounts so it wouldn't rip out of the face of the guitar. you can kind of see it in the second shot. i then capped the back and cut it flush and put a round over on it.
the bigsby is a real deal one from the sixties, it is in no way mint. i picked it up for a song from my buddy alan, it's frankensteined together from vintage pieces. he taught me a lot of but these cool trems and what mods really benefit them. the bridge plate i a left over from a trial run he had done while at fender. the thimbles were custom fabbed by my65pan.
the hot dog plate is something i fabbed up at alan's house, the vol knob is pushed back towards the tone pot so i can get my finger in there. don't know if that's noticeable in the pics, but it ain't stock. knobs are pistons that my65pan also made.
500k vol pot, esquire wiring with tone, no tone, and cocked way tone. the pickup is a G&L (MFD?) from an asat classic. i'll use that for now but uncle fezz is sending me one of his pickups that he's been making so i'll see which one i like better.
thanks again for all the kind words guys.
