The MXR appreciation thread
Seeing CocoTone's thread on the Distortion+ got me thinking about MXR and what cool stuff they've made over the years. Here's a few MXR pedals I own.

Script logo Phase100, and old Flanger and 3 block logo (no LED) D+ pedals. So where's the Phase90 you say, it's at my parent's house along with some other goodies.;)
So what MXR stuff do you guys own? The world wants to know.
Re: The MXR appreciation thread
I have a Dyna-Comp (from the first year they started adding the DC input, which was probably long after the Jim Dunlop era. I don't use a lot of compression, but when I want it, nothing sounds better to me than the Dyna-Comp.
I also have a really old MXR Headphone amp. Same size box as the Dyna-Comp, black, 1 volume knob. Plug the guitar in one side, headphones in the other. Really loud FET amp boosts the signal. I've heard of people using them as a clean boost, but I've never tried it. I'm guessing it might be a pretty heinous tone-sucker. :)
Re: The MXR appreciation thread
2 phase 90's, one ri, one 70's.
ri dyna comp, i use in my bass rig
and a 70's micro amp.
love em all. they're my babies.
Re: The MXR appreciation thread
I still use an old noise-gate line driver (script logo). I don't know if the new noise gates are better, but it works.
Re: The MXR appreciation thread
Early block logo Dynacomp. Won't leave home without it.
Re: The MXR appreciation thread

That's pretty scary, and yet the techno-geek in me just loves it. It's like the old Electra MPC guitars taken to a much farther level.

Pretty funky gee-tar there Frip.:)

It's a GRD (Guitar Research and Design) I bought in the early 80s. The top is solid Indian Rosewood on a mahogany body. The MXR is turned on by one of the 4 switches (the others are coil splits and a phase reversal) and instead of a toggle switch it has a slider control to fade between the pickups. Basically an east coast Alembic

Re: The MXR appreciation thread
I love my MXR Micro Amp. I unfortunately didn't know what I had when I traded away my first original Micro Amp pedal but I still have a early 80s model with an on/off LED on it which is actually more useful than the original one without the LED. Everyone I play with always wants one after they see hear what it can do for that extra solo volume.
Re: The MXR appreciation thread
Many years ago I had a Dyna Comp. Best compressor I ever used. During my "blue" period, I got rid of all my effects (almost, anyway) & just plugged straight in for the most part. In the past few years I've gotten back into pedals & such, & right now I'm just using a cheezy DOD compressor I got for cheap. How are the MXR RI compressors? Do they stack up to the earlier ones?
BTW, Fripperton- very Jerry, indeed!
Re: The MXR appreciation thread
I have a script-logo Distortion+, a block-logo Phase 45 and a re-issue Distortion+.
Love 'em all.
Re: The MXR appreciation thread
I'm in with my modified block logo Dist +. It's there for my "thin" guitar tones. Great for doubling guitar parts.
Re: The MXR appreciation thread
I swear by my 80's Micro-Amp

I think pretty nice. Not true-bypass or even easily modded to same, but I still like it. Probably the originals had a bit more vibe, but I really do like the AC jack.
I used it (admittedly heavily) on TFF Jam 5.
Re: The MXR appreciation thread
Still have my script Phase 90 I got in the 70's. Needed repair and now it's great. Just picked up a new MicroAmp...awesome boost pedal...don't know WTF MXR was thinking with the assbackwards 9volt jack though.
