Pickup "switching" question
I'm thinking of scrapping the 2 concentric pot setup on my Tele.
As wired by me, the whole monstosity barely fits into the rout.
I think something (or some things) fitting it all in.
The pot don't really do anything, and the middle switch position yeilds an odd (though not wholly unmusical) nasally sound, not what I was after. It's sound a little one of the super thin setting on a Jaguar.
So plan B is: regular volume and tone. 1 pot each, with a blend pot.
Can I use a switch like EITHER OF THESE to sort of pan between 2 pickups?
Or maybe THIS?
There's a simple diagram for this one.
I'm wondering if I maybe cooked the concentric pots with my dying/too-hot old iron.
I've got a new 30/15 watt iron now.
And I think I'm ready to revive this idea.
Re: Pickup "switching" question
I'd use the blend pot, rather than the rotary switch. I have a 2-pickup bass with a blend pot, and it's the cat's pajamas.
The rotary switch is better suited for things like series/parallel combinations, and coil-splitting and the like. Kind of like the switching schemes PRS uses.
Re: Pickup "switching" question
I'm not looking fo anything fancy, just blending back and forth.
I like the idea of the the half-way point being both p'ups on full.
